Multiple Affected as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight Landing at Sydney
Several people were hurt following a Delta aircraft from LA to Sydney experienced rough air on Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson informed. Four flight attendants were injured.
Emergency medical services said they treated a total of five people, and took a trio to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that included spinal discomfort and headaches. The injured were between their 30s up to the 70s.
This marks the most recent case of commercial jets being hit by turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the wide-body jet, the representative added, adding that the plane landed "safely and normally" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.
The NSW Ambulance Service reported they were alerted just three minutes before the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
